Eight Carmen Arace Middle School students are experiencing the fields of science and laboratory medicine through a novel 10-week after-school partnership with the Center for DNA-Guided Medicine in Hartford.
The Center’s Director of Educational Programs Dr. Mohan Kocheria, and colleagues, have been overseeing the session. The goal of CAMS Youth Academy after-program’s goal is to expose students to careers in science, laboratory medicine and research. The sessions engage students with a hybrid approach to learning, combining classroom instruction and laboratory-activity.
This year’s weekly sessions end in mid-December and will start again in January of 2024.

Friendly Reminder: District's holiday Stuff the Bus Food Drive, to support Bloomfield Food Bank, ends today. Non-perishable food items may be dropped off at any of our schools this morning. Buses will be located at each school site. At noon, the final collection site will be the town's community center, 330 Park Ave.

The AgriScience Flower Shop is selling single stem sunflowers for delivery on Friday of this week. Each sunflower is $4.00 and includes delivery to anywhere in the high school, a notecard and envelope for your personalized message and a water tube to quench that thirst. A reception for all recipients was held recently at Dunkin Stadium's Yard Goats Club. OPP's mission is to provide developmental and and job training to Greater Hartford's youth.

Professions could include doctor, nurse, physician assistant, radiologic technologist, medical laboratory science, respiratory therapy, physical or occupational therapy, prosthetics, public health, hospital administration, nutrition, genetic counselor, optometrist, and more!
