Picture Day at BHS is October 22, 2024. All students will have their picture taken during their English classes. A student must have their picture taken in order to receive an updated Student ID. Picture Retake Day will take place on December 3, 2024, should your child be absent from school on Picture Day.

On Monday, October 7th, BHS' Class Act Council, a group of student-athletes at BHS who promote sportsmanship and help to develop and implement different initiatives at the high school, attended the 18th Annual CIAC Sportsmanship Conference at the Aqua Turf. The conference included inspiring stories from current and past athletes, insightful panels, and a keynote address by UCONN legend Kara Wolters. At the conference, BHS' Class Act Council was awarded the Michaels Jewelers Achievement Cup for the 2023-2024 school year, this is the sixth time that the athletic department has received this honor. The Michaels Cup is awarded to schools who create positive environments for their student-athletes through a high standard of sportsmanship. BHS was also awarded the Fred Balsamo Sportsmanship Award at the event. The Fred Balsamo Sportsmanship Award funds sportsmanship initiatives for CIAC member schools based on how well applicants support tolerance, acceptance and respect. Congratulations to our Class Act Council and the entire Athletic Department!

Congratulations to the Varsity Football Team on their 48-0 win over Avon last Friday! Touchdowns for the Warhawks were scored by: Zion Banton (2), Romar Heron (1), Marlon Britton (2), Cameron White (1), and Lamont Applewhite (1). The boys have a bye week this week but please come out and support the team as they take on East Catholic next Friday at 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday, October 4th, a group of BHS Juniors and Seniors took a field trip to the University of Connecticut. Students were given the opportunity to tour the campus, meet with current students, learn about prestigious academic programs, and explore student engagement opportunities. There may be some future Huskies in this picture!

The CHET Dream Big! Competition launched on August 15. K-12 students in Connecticut can enter the Competition and be awarded a scholarship of up to $20,000 for future education. To enter, students are asked to answer a question by submitting a drawing or painting, essay, or video. www.chetdreambig.com. Each school that is represented by at least one student’s entry will be eligible for a random drawing for a $5k technology prize.
